lalit:
the corrupter of the nations favourite pass time was earlier one of the many low-key entrepreneurs that moved through the business world trying to make their buck... with ipl he finally found a winner, and soon enough the other big players hopped onto the bandwagon as the rest of the nation watched, baited breath and awed by the sheer volumes of money that got involved... the dreamer was achieving and hopefully family ties and respect started gradually trickling in...
despite want of better adage, all good things did come to an end... nobody likes the rich, if your loud, not connected and owner of the golden egg laying hen your troubles only multiply... the vultures found their victim stumble and so began the snowballing of idiocy..
the greatest creative minds burned the midnight oil and finally came with two possible solutions... the... "Indian Paisa League!" and 'IPLGate...' not that the names themselves deserve even a mere mention but at least the Indian Paisa league was original... Horrible sfx were added to the text as it came exploding onto your screen and they sat back and smiled knowing that their job was done... Sleuths dug deeper and found the relatively gory past they were looking for... a strange Oedipus complex, drug abuse, minor convictions... All they had to do now was find ex employees that seemed disgruntled [how you treat your employees afteral does say a lot about you..] and he would join the rest of the dots for their piece de resistance portrait...
today we resume our routine lives... the ipl doesn't surface again for another year and our memories would let it all slip till then... but while the rest of us sit ducks, doesn't a small voice think it's absurd to knock someone down for being corrupt... i mean, we seriously have to be kidding ourselves if we truly believe that... let's rewind in flashy cinematic style and look again...
businessman starts venture
venture becomes a hit
everyone wants in on the action
laws of supply and demand kick in
majority happiness is achieved
apart from the gender the otherwise obvious fact is, if venture is in India.. it has to be corrupt... not in any way endorsing corruption, but to ostracize someone for being corrupt today is as stupid as leaving a transparent bagful of money unmonitored and expecting it to remain there...
why do we like fooling ourselves.. why waste time in still finding answers to unimportant issues... oh sure, there is nothing we can do about it... we lap up what the media spoon feeds us... why then do we still empower it for deciding our menu... here is possible alternative truth that has no substantial proof, evidence or witnesses... don't believe in anything you hear otherwise... better still, believe everything...[ha! take that you reverse psychology nay sayers]
let's do a quick background recap...
Shashi Tharoor: Pain in the govt's neck/ imaginary savior of masses
Lalit Modi: Businessman
Sharad Pawar: Greedy bastard child that wants in on everything
Government: Front office for all and any business
Seeing Tharoor's entanglement as their golden opportunity to defame and get rid of him once and for all... the government thought it necessary to take action... Pawar on the other hand had been getting restless with the all the fame, eyeballs and money Ipl was churning... Despite owning all of Maharashtra, every civil contract through daughter companies, agriculture, more importantly Sugar, and finally chairperson BCCI he felt it simply wasn't enough...
What follows is politics at it's best.. the media is sold the news as a scandal that does match up to water-gate if not more.. the topic is already a hot one... information supply and demand kick in... majority happiness is achieved...
again one doesn't need to be a Modi sympathizer to get the feeling that the actually truth wriggled away again and the weaker residue that was left behind remained as the absolute...worse still, somehow the notion of the government taking over the entire venture looked even more ridiculous as unknowingly they tampered with one of the basic fundamentals of democracy... economy is what essentially distinguishes a democratic country from any other form... in this case, the free market doesn't exist... i'll leave it to you to decide whether the democracy does...
